Job Description:

Established in 2001 as a partnership between Cornell University and Qatar Foundation, WCM-Q is part of Weill Cornell Medicine in New York and shares its mission of dedication to excellence in education, patient care and research.

The first medical school in Qatar and a pioneer of coeducation at university level, WCM-Q offers an integrated program of pre-medical and medical studies leading to the Cornell University M.D. degree. Teaching is by Cornell and Weill Cornell faculty, including physicians at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) who hold Weill Cornell appointments.

WCM-Q is in its 15th year of operation and is seeking a candidate for Security Engineer.

Reporting to the Senior Manager Network AV, the Security Engineer is responsible for ITS systems & network security, uses all available security tools to identify and remediate electronic security threats within WCM institutions and participates in the design and implementation of security technologies and solutions.

Having in-depth knowledge of Network security, the incumbent will be responsible for performing in-depth monitoring & threat analysis using appropriate ITS tools to identify and remediate threats to WCM systems & network devices, identifying best practices for network devices & information systems, overseeing the vulnerability management process & developing technical solutions, conducting research to identify new attack vectors against WCM systems, designing, implementing & managing security policy & configuration for information systems and network devices, monitoring compliance to security policies through log analysis, and performing security incident response as required.

Requirements:

The successful candidate is required to have a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of three years progressive experience in security support infrastructure, extensive knowledge of UNIX and Windows operating systems, networking programming principles, host-based security procedures, Demonstrated experience securing platforms: Windows, Active Directory, Unix, Linux, AIX and Solaris, and in working with firewalls, SSL VPN’s, routers and switches, VPN’s, Sourcefire, RNA, and Arbor network systems. Extensive knowledge in networking & service protocols, encryption and authentication fundamentals, cryptographic standards, Deep TCP/IP and routing, and preferably Proficiency with Syslog reporting, Splunk, Tripwire and securing IP Telephony and wireless system.
