Mumbai, February 24: Congress leader and Maharashtra Industries Minister Narayan Rane has advised citizens of Thane not to get wooed by “empty and false promises” being given by Opposition BJP-Shiv Sena combine and have faith in his party.
“It was only Congress and only Congress which can protect the citizens, including those staying in the unauthorised structures and slums,” he said.
He was addressing the citizens at the `Jana Jagran Abhiyan’ organised by the Thane unit of Congress last night.
Rane lashed out at the BJP, saying it had no moral right to speak about corruption in the Congress-NCP Government in the state. “Its party (BJP) chief had been once caught on camera taking bribe money, and many of its leaders were trouble over corrupt practices.”
“When a Chief Minister’s name figured in the Adarsh scam, he was asked by Congress chief Sonia Gandhi to resign. Did the BJP do the same in Karnataka?” he questioned.
Hitting out at Shiv Sena, he said its leaders had developed themselves instead of ensuring the development of “Marathi Manoos”.
