Rajkhowa, two others sent to further police custody

Guwahati, December 17: ULFA ‘chairman’ Arabinda Rajkhowa, ‘deputy commander-in-chief’ Raju Baruah and the former’s bodyguard Raja Bora were sent to another nine days of police custody after the end of their 12-day remand today which also saw filing of three fresh cases.

The trio was produced in a special camp court inside the Guwahati Central Jail before Chief Judicial Magistrate Rabin Phukan with Assam Police seeking 14 days custody in three new cases related to bomb explosions in Paltan Bazar, Bharalumukh and Bhangagarh police stations areas here.

Phukan asked the prosecution lawyers about the time needed for interrogating the ULFA leaders and after being told that three days were sufficient for each case, he remanded them in nine days of police custody.

The three ULFA men were driven in a SUV in a convoy of police vehicles to the court and not allowed to talk to waiting mediapersons.
