Kumbakonam: A woman on a trip from Jaipur was reportedly raped by four men after the auto-driver who picked her from the railway station at midnight dropped her off in the middle of nowhere, said reports.
According to Police reports, the woman arrived from Jaipur on December 2 around midnight to join a bank.
She hired an Auto rickshaw from the railway station for the hostel but the Auto-driver dropped her in the midway only.
Two unknown men who had come that way found her alone and took her to an isolated spot where they allegedly raped her and left.
Two other men also sexually assaulted her later the police said, adding that the arrests of the four accused have been made on Thursday.
The four accused were later produced before the local judicial magistrate and were sent to judicial custody.
Meanwhile, the local people in the region demanded the arrest of the autorickshaw driver who had dropped the woman midway instead of dropping her anther hostel.
