Barmer, Rajasthan: A six-year-old girl allegedly got gang-raped Friday inside the premises of a government school in Barmer of Rajasthan, police said.
A complaint was registered with the police on the basis of the statement given by victim’s father. The student of Class 2 was tied to a table in a room near the school toilet and gang-raped on Thursday, the complaint mentioned.
According to a report by Hindustan Times, two people, both sweepers of the school, have been detained.
The FIR had been filed under section 376(D), 376-2(I) of the Indian Penal Code and the anti-child sexual abuse act, said Anita Rani, in-charge of the women’s police station.

The six-year-old is in the hospital and is stable, doctors said. “Doctors have not found any external or internal injuries on the girl in the medical examination. But we have sent her vaginal swab for forensic examination,” said superintendent of police Gagandeep Singla.
“We have asked a deputy SP to investigate the case,” Singla added.
Safety of children in Indian schools is under scanner following the murder of an eight-year-old boy inside Gurgaon’s Ryan International School. The boy was found outside the school toilet on the ground floor, crawling and bleeding profusely before he died.
In the last three years, 56 cases of alleged sexual violence against girls by teachers in schools have been registered, as per the data from the Rajasthan home department. It also indicates that of the 55 teachers who have been accused, none has been convicted and five have been acquitted.
