Chandigarh, April 03: Chandigarh and its surrounding areas experienced light to moderate rainfall accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorm Saturday night. The rainfall made the Sunday morning cooler compared to the past couple of days.
Met officials are expecting light rainfall in various parts of this region over the next two days.
“Most parts of Chandigarh and isolated place in Punjab and Haryana were lashed by rains Saturday night. Now we are expecting thundery developments by late evening or during the night. We are expecting more rains in this region during the next 48 hours,” said a Met official here Sunday.
He added, “We are also expecting a slight dip in the mercury today.”
The maximum temperature of Chandigarh Saturday was 32.2 degrees Celsius while the minimum was 19.4 degrees Celsius.
However, the minimum Sunday morning was 17.4 degrees.
Punjab’s Amritsar city recorded a minimum temperature of 11.6 degrees Celsius. Whereas Patiala and Ludhiana cities settled at 17.1 and 15.1 degrees Celsius respectively.
In Haryana, Ambala, Hisar and Karnal towns recorded minimum of 18, 15.2 and 15.6 degrees Celsius respectively Sunday morning.
