Amethi, July 17: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi today launched a full-scale attack on the Mayawati government in Uttar Pradesh saying it is “not operational” and its priority was to install statues.
Though he described his party’s state unit chief Rita Bahuguna Joshi’s comments against the Chief Minister as “unfortunate”, he said the Joshi’s anger and sentiments against the government were “genuine”.
He said Joshi should not have used those words which the Congress party and its chief Sonia Gandhi have already disapproved. He parried questions whether action would be taken against Joshi saying it was the business of party President and other senior leaders to decide.
Stepping-up the offensive against the BSP government, Gandhi, on his thanksgiving visit after winning the Lok Sabha election, said he understood Joshi’s anger when she criticised the government because nothing was being done for the people.
