Chandigarh, January 27: Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today pledged to donate his eyes to enable the blind to see the light of the day.
Hooda took the vow while unveiling “Nehru Drishti Yojna” and “Indira Bal Swasthya Yojna” schemes at the Republic Day function at Jhajjar, an official spokesman said.
Hailing the Chief Minister’s decision, former Haryana Assembly Speaker Raghbir Singh Kadiyan said his gesture would inspire others to donate theireyes.
The spokesman said the “Nehru Drishti Yojna” is aimed at controlling blindness, adding by dialling phone number 102,one can call doctors for donatingeyes.
To make it convenient for family members or relatives of eye donors, 20 such collection centres are being established in the state, the Chief Minister said at the function.
