‘Pure politics’ being played through Iftaar parties: BJP

New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national secretary Siddharth Nath Singh on Sunday targeted the Congress and the Trinamool Congress (TMC) party, saying ‘pure politics’ was being played in the name of Iftaar parties.

“Mamata Banerjee not attending the Iftar party of Sonia Gandhi, let me put this, these so called secular parties have nothing to do with the religion or respect towards religion. It is pure politics through Iftaar party and there the Congress and the CPI (M) are joining hands to fight against Mamata Banerjee. So, Mamata Banerjee is not attending,” he told ANI.

“There in Bihar, what we are seeing is there is an alliance with ‘jungle raaj’. So, Lalu (Prasad Yadav) wants to give an Iftaar party but Nitish, after facing a defeat, doesn’t want to be on the same platform with Lalu so he is attending the Sonia Gandhi’s Iftaar party. So, it is pure political Iftaar parties and has nothing to do with the religion,” he added.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has opted out of the Iftaar parties being hosted by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Congress President Sonia Gandhi.

Meanwhile, RJD chief is likely to attend Sonia Gandhi’s Iftaar party. (ANI)
