Punishment to convicts of Gujarat communal riots hailed by various leaders

(Siasat News)Applauding the judgment pronounced by the court in respect of Naroda Patiya (Gujarat) communal riots, Maulana Hafiz Peer Shabeer Ahmed, MLC and President of Jameeatulema of A.P. Branch said that it is a historic judgment, which enhanced the dignity of judiciary in India. He told that stern punishments have been given to the culprits who committed heinous crimes. This would discourage the rioters. He told that many other judgments have to be pronounced by various court of Gujarat. In a span of ten years, the courts have punished the culprits.

There is a need to punish the culprits of communal riots occurred in the country so that the anti-social elements learn a lesson to maintain peace and communal harmony.

Senior Congress leader, Mr. Mohammed Arifuddin welcomed the judgment of the court for awarding severe punishments to the criminals of Gujarat Communal riots. He told that whatever be the rank and status of the anti-social elements, and whatever is their religion, they should be punished severely. The punishment given by the court to a woman minister, Dr.MayaKodnani and Babu Bajrangi has established a precedent.

Mr. Mohammed Viquar Husain, President of Indian Union Muslim League, A.P. welcomed the punishment given to Dr. Maya Kodnani and Babu Bajrangi. He told that it is one of the greatest judgments of the democratic India. Despite the efforts and influence of the leaders, it was not possible to save the culprits.
