Protesting MLAs urge Andhra Speaker to accept resignations

Hyderabad, December 15: The legislators of Andhra and Rayalaseema regions, who had resigned in protest against the Central government’s decision to set in process the formation of separate Telangana, today met Andhra PradeshSpeaker N Kiran Kumar Reddy and urged him to accept their resignations immediately.

The Legislators, led by senior leader and former Minister P Ashok Gajapathi Raju, raised slogans in favour of united Andhra in front of theSpeaker’s chamber and urged the Speaker to start the process for acccepting their resignations as per the rules of the House.

Mr Raju later told newspersons that the Speaker told him that he would look into the matter and act as per the rules of the House in due course.

Soon after the Central government’s announcement on initiating the process for forming separate Telangana, a large number of legislators cutting across the party lines had submitted their resignations in protest against the formation of separate Telangana.
