Ranchi, April 06: The RJD today announced that it would be joining the bandh called by opposition parties tomorrow in protest against yesterday’s police firing that killed one person and injured over a dozen during an anti-encroachment drive at Islam Nagar here.
“Our party has decided to support the opposition parties in their bandh in protest against yesterday’s police firing,” RJD state unit president Girinath Singh told newsmen in Garhwa.
The Congress will observe Ranchi bandh while its pre-poll ally Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantric) has called a 12-hour Jharkhand shutdown tomorrow while the Left parties will observe a ‘protest day’ tomorrow.
The police had yesterday opened fire to disperse protesters of anti-encroachment drive at Islam Nagar following an order of the Jharkhand High Court. Union minister Subodh Kant Sahay had also been arrested for staging a sit-in at the spot.
