Professional gang behind the kidnap of new born

Hyderabad, June 07: A newborn was kidnapped from a private hospital at Mallapur by a woman aged around 30.

Since Ms Shameena Begum, who already has three daughters and a son, opted for a tubectomy after the birth of her fifth child, she had to stay back at the hospital after the normal delivery of the boy. “We had never seen the woman before but believed her when she said her relative was also admitted here,” she said. A tired Ms Shameena, wife of autorickshaw driver Mr Mahmud, ran back and forth from the Cyberabad police commissioner’s office at Gachibowli, to the local police station at Nacharam and then to the hospital on Monday. The Nacharam police inspector, Mr T. Manohar Reddy, said that based on the description of the mother and hospital staff, the police department had prepared a sketch of the suspect. Police has asked anyone having information about the woman to call 9490617150/9491039083.

“We have asked the hospital authorities to either instal a CCTV or maintain a register with names of the visitors and whom they want to visit and the time of entry and exit. We are interrogating everyone and feel that it’s the work of a professional gang. With the help of the sketch, we hope to nab the kidnapper,” said Mr Reddy. Admitting that a CCTV or a written register should have been maintained, a hospital spokesperson said oral inquiries are always made. A hospital source said the woman might have had prior information as early on Saturday only Ms Shameena had delivered.
