Patna, April 17: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has ordered a high-level inquiry into the destruction of a brick-made Ashokan stupa atop Griddhakut Hills at Rajgir in Nalanda district.
The inquiry would be conducted by Principal Secretary, Human Resource Department, Anjani Kumar Singh, ADG (HQ) P K Thakur and Chief Conservator of forest B A Khan, officials told PTI today.
The Archaeological Survey of India officials has lodged an FIR for destruction of the monument located behind the famous World Peace Pagoda.
The stupa was destroyed some time after April 7 and it is being suspected that the structure has been destructed by miscreants or by idol smugglers.
