Balasore, September 24: Balasore, September 24: The medium range surface to surface missile ”Prithivi-II” failed to take off during the test fire from the integrated Test Range(ITR), about 15 kms from here today.
The indigenously-built missile, developed by the Defence Research Development Organisation (DRDO), was scheduled to test fire from a mobile launcher from the ITR complex.
The 350 km range missile, designed for quick maneuverability and war-time efficiency, however, developed a technical snag during the test fire at 1002 hrs and failed to take off.
The missile has a range of 350 Kms with a 500 kg warhead and the payload could be increased to 1000 kg.
