NEW DELHI: Ahead of Lok Sabha polls, the popularity of the ‘Modi jacket’ worn by Prime Minister has a drastic fall.
According to garments traders in Aurangabad district of Maharashtra, the vest-like sleeveless jacket the leader usually dons, a hit among youngsters is on the wane.
The trader speaking to a leading news agency said that he used to sold around 35 jackets per day, However, the number is down to one per week.
The sale of these jackets, a rage during the 2014 elections especially among the youth was impacted because of the factors like the GST, demonetisation and drought-like situation in the state.
Another cloth merchant Rajedra Bhawsar added that since the last one year he sold not more than 10 pieces from his outlet.
“I now face a problem as the unsold stock is more and I invested a big amount, but there is no profit,” he said.
