Mumbai, August 26: The city police today served a notice to
Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray for his alleged
involvement in threatening to auto and taxi drivers.
”A notice under section 149 of the Criminal Procedure Code
(CrPC) was served to Raj Thackeray warning him against giving
any provocative or inflammatory speeches regarding his latest drive
against auto and taxi drivers,” said S R Unavane senior inspector
of Shivaji Park Police Station.
The notice refrains Thackeray from ”committing a cognizable
offence in future,” Unavane added.
It may be recalled that the MNS chief had recently visited
the city traffic police headquarters and demanded a crackdown on
taxi and autorickshaw drivers, who refuse to ferry commuters.
During this, Raj had allegedly used provocative langauage for
tackling this problem.
