Police register case against TRS Chief

Vijayawada, December 25: On the direction of a court, Nandigama Police in Krishna District of Andhra Pradesh has registered a case against Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) President K Chandrasekhara Rao for allegedly making a statement ‘which could cause fear in the minds of the people.’

Nandigama Additional Judicial First Class Magistrate K Salija, on December 23, directed the police to register a case against Mr Rao and hold an inquiry after hearing a petition filed by local advocate N Sriram Murthy to this effect.

As soon as the TRS President reportedly made a statement on December 18 that ‘he would invent a nuclear explosion and create terror among public if the Centre retracted the statement made on separate Telangana state by Union Home Minister P Chidambaram on December 9, Mr Murthy lodged a complaint in thepolice station.

However, police refused to register a case and Mr Murthy filed a petition in the court.

Talking to UNI over phone today, Nandigama Sub-Inspector Veera Venkata Satya Narayana Murthy said cases had been registered against Mr Rao last evening under sections 153, 153 (A), 156 (3) and 504 of the IPC.

A thorough investigation would be initiated before taking further action against the TRS Chief, Mr Murthy added.
