Police file chargesheet against Maoist leader Ghandy

New Delhi, February 19: Arrested top Maoist leader Kobad Ghandy, accused of trying to set up a network of the banned outfit here, was today chargesheeted by police in a local court under the stringent Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

The Delhi Police Special Cell slapped charges under the Act, besides booking him for various offences under the IPC relating to cheating, forgery and impersonation.

In its over 700-page chargesheet filed in the court of Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Kaveri Baweja, the police alleged that 63-year-old Ghandy along with his associates was trying to build a Maoist corridor in the national capital.

The investigators, who claimed to have recovered a fake voter identity and pan cards from Ghandy, also referred to a CD in which he was shown to be addressing armed cadres of the banned organisation. He was arrested here on September 20 last year.
