Hyderabad, October 15: Even after the two-week deadline given by AP Administrative Tribunal Chairman G Yethirajulu to the Andhra Pradesh Police Chief to fill the 28 vacant posts of Additional Superintendents of Police, 17 posts remain vacant, in violation of the Tribunal’s orders.
Mr Yethirajulu had passed the orders on August 27, 2010 through OA No 5643/2010 after Seven Deputy Superintendents of Police had approached the Tribunal through their advocate V Ravichandran, seeking promotion and postings as Additional Superintendents of Police.
The Tribunal stated in its order that the Principal Secretary (Home) had given the nod for the Police Department to fill 28 vacant posts in the cadre of Additional Superintendents of Police through GO Ms No 129 Dated May 31, 2010.
The Principal Secretary (Home) had passed GO Rt No 1120 on July 7, 2010 for the filling up of only 11 posts of Additional Superintendents of Police, keeping 17 vacancies unfilled, since the Director General of Police, representing the Police Department, had forwarded only these 11 names.
The Tribunal stated in its order that the DGP had requested the Government to accord permission for filling up of the 28 posts and also sought permission to prepare the Supplementary Panel of DSP fit to act as the Additional Superintendents of Police based on their seniority and on ad hoc basis.
The DGP had even asked for relaxation of the minimum required service of five years.
The Tribunal ordered the DGP to send the list of officers to the Home Secretary so that the remaining 17 posts may be filled and had given the State Police Chief a fortnight’s time.
Even after 48 days of the order being issued, the list of names has not been sent yet.
