Srinagar, November 24: Police have arrested a Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) resident and recovered a satellite phone from him at Chakan-Da-Bagh area in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said today.
45-year-old Tufail Hussain Shah of Mahajir colony in Islamagarh belt in PoK’s Mirpur became the first cross-LoC visitor to be arrested by police last evening since the opening of Chakan-Da-Bagh route for civilians of both parts of the divided state on November 21, 2005, they said.
Tufail, who travelled along with 20 divided family members from PoK to Jammu and Kashmir last evening, had concealed a satellite telephone and accessories in an iron truck and Army troops and police recovered it at Chakan-Da-Bagh immigration centre, they said.
They said that Tufail was taken into custody by police after more than a two-hour-long questioning and a case was registered against him at Poonch police station.
