”PM”s cricket diplomacy aimed at diverting people”s attention”

Shimla, April 01: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has initiated cricket diplomacy with Pakistan and held talks with his Pakistani counterpart Yousuf Raza Gilani to divert the nation”s attention from various scams and the issue of black money, BJP leader Kalraj Mishra today alleged.

He also accused the UPA government of not taking the comments of the Supreme Court seriously as despite directions of the apex court, the identification of the persons who had deposited black money in foreign banks had not been made.

“The government of India should give full security and protection to those investigating the trail of black money stashed in foreign banks. A special investigation team should be set up to identify those having black money in foreign countries,” the BJP national Vice President and incharge of organisational affairs in Himachal Pradesh said at a press conference here.

Mishra said that the UPA government was “scared” of exposure of its leaders in case the investigations were conducted earnestly.

Lashing out at Union Home Minister P Chidambaram for his “saffron terror” comments, Mishra accused him of trying to flare up communal frenzy.

“The Home Minister should behave like Home Minister of the country and refrain from making remarks which smack of regionalism or communalism and divide the people,” he said.

The BJP leader also alleged that Chidambaram was playing regional politics to hide the failures of the Centre to give adequate funds to the northern states for their development.

He said the BJP would organise rallies in various parts of the country in May and June to make people aware of the various scams, corruption, rising prices and black money stashed in foreign banks.
