PM writes to Anna get well letter

Gurageon,August 31: The 13th floor of Medanta Medicity is now off limits for not only visitors but also hospital staff. Only a team of four senior doctors have access to a suite on this floor where anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare is recuperating. The team includes Dr Naresh Trehan, cardiologist Dr Balram Gupta, head of anaesthesia and critical care cell Dr Yatin Mehta and a neurologist.
Entry to the floor is only through a lift and the stairs have been closed. Attendants of other patients on the
floor have been given special passes.
On Tuesday, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh sent flowers and a short message to Anna wishing him a speedy recovery. In the evening, Kiran Bedi came to meet him and later told reporters that the Gandhian was doing quite well. According to Dr Mehta, Anna ate poha for breakfast and has started taking a soft diet. He also slept well on Monday night.
“He is responding well to the treatment. We have started giving him semi-solid food. We will discharge him in a day or two,” said Dr Naresh Trehan. He said Anna’s blood pressure was 124/84 and heart rate 86. “He is still feeling a little weak, but there is nothing to worry. All his test reports are normal. The ketone levels in his urine have also reduced and are now in the normal range. This is a good sign,” said Dr Gupta.
On Anna’s routine, Dr Mehta said he preferred to rest for most part of the day and watched television intermittently. When asked whether he was reading any newpaper, Dr Mehta said, “Anna refuses to read any newspaper as he feels ‘mere mein abhimaan aa jayega’ (I might start feeling important) after reading all that is being written about him.”
Meanwhile, there were reports of Baba Ramdev reaching Gurgaon but he refrained from meeting Anna and is expected to meet him on Wednesday. Vilasrao Deshmukh was one of the handful of visitors who have so far met Anna other than his team members since he was admitted here.
