PM hints at further assistance to Andhra Pradesh

New Delhi, December 23: A day after Prime Minister Manmohan Singh announced the release of Rs 400 crore to the Andhra Pradesh government to overcome the natural disaster caused by floods, a delegation of MPs met Dr Singh to urge him that the money sanctioned was too meagre, considering the enormity of the damage.
The delegation, led by Left party leaders A B Bardhan and Brinda Karat, Indian National Lok Dal president Ajit Singh and Telugu Desam Party MPs, apprised the Prime Minister that the money he had released was too inadequate to give any meaningful relief to the farmers.

The MPs also handed over a letter written to him by TDP chief and former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who has been hospitalised after he launched an indefinite hunger strike at Hyderabad.
