Active participation by the people in the most beneficial program of Haritha Haram will give clean air comprising oxygen and better environment, Deputy Chief Minister Mahmood Ali today said.
The Dy CM participated in the sapling plantation drive at Public Gardens and planted a Neem sapling on the premises and poured water to it. Agriculture and Horticulture Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, Excise Minister T. Padma Rao Goud, Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav, Hyderabad Mayor Bonthu Rammohan were also present.
Speaking on the occasion, Mahmood Ali said the green drive was going on a mission mode and the people should voluntarily turn up in large numbers to the holy program of green expansion. The greenery will give fresh air and better environment to the posterity and fetching rains to banish drought, he stated. “People and voluntary organizations should note that the greenery has many advantages for our lives and shoulder the responsibility to expand its cover, he said. He also exhorted the people to try to protect the saplings for pure environment. Vigorous efforts by the people, NGOs and businessmen will make Telangana surpass other States in terms of expanding green cover, Ali added.
Planting the saplings at vacant places and other areas will increase the ratio of clean air of oxygen in the environment that will boost survival of the mankind, the Deputy Chief Minister noted. The State government was going ahead with an action plan to reach the target of planting 46 crore saplings this year and 230 crore over the next four years.
Pocharam Srinivas Reddy said the Public Gardens will soon become an Oxygen Park with a total of 5,000 Neem saplings. “We are planning to supply fruit saplings to the households and plan to grow 1.28 crore saplings in five years and plant 23 lakh saplings of various fruits. Padma Rao said increase of green cover will prevent adverse effects of ultra violet rays on the living beings. Srinivas Yadav and Rammohan also spoke. (NSS)
