Hyderabad: The KCR government has come up with a new type of appreciation plan as they will gifts plots and houses in Hyderabad to the state MLAs and Ministers.
This new strategic idea is mainly planned when both Houses adopt the Appropriation Bill which was introduced by Legislative Affairs Minister T Harish Rao.
It was mentioned in the bill to hike the pay to about Rs 2.80 lakh in the copies circulated among the members and the media, altogether the wages may be pegged at Rs 3 lakh to Rs 3.5 lakh a month.
The hike in salary will burden the State exchequer by Rs 42.67 cr per annum.
However, KCR justified the salary hike as means to avoid corruption and said that it would not burden the government.
The gift presentations don’t just end with plots and houses and Salary hike, but the legislators will also be getting expensive electronic gadgets like iPods and iPhones for which a special budgetry provision of around Rs 1.5 crore was made by the state Finance Ministry.
It is a regular practice for all successive governments to present expensive gifts to MLAs during budget sessions.
