Power cuts disrupt water supply in city

The interruption in power supply has affected the supply of drinking water in some areas of Hyderabad.

HMWSSB Managing Director Dr. B. Janardhan Reddy has reviewed the water supply status with the Directors and CGM(E), Trans Circle on Wednesday. During the discussions, he was told that there was an interruption in power supply at water treatment plant situated at Mallaram near Siddpet on Tuesday. Due to this interruption, only two pumps, instead of three pumps, were run for two hours from 3 PM to 5 PM with loss of about 10MG of water to the city. Due to this, the water supply in the areas of Chandanagar, HUDA colony etc., in Sherilingampally, Kukatpally and Banjara Hills was supplied with low pressure.

The Managing Director requested the CPCDL CMD to make arrangement for supplying of uninterrupted supplies to the water supply pumping stations during the summer so as the water supply can be maintained without any interruption as interruptions in power supply for a minute also will take two hours for normalizing the pumps and water supply.

He also instructed the officers incharge of the pumping stations and water treatment plants to be alert and continuously coordinate with the officials of CPCDL for maintaining the uninterrupted power supply during the summer to give full quantity of water supply.(INN)
