Hyderabad, September 21: The TDP floor leaders in the Legislative Council, Mr Dadi Veerabadra Rao reminded that the United Nations Organization (UNO) has declared October 2- Gandhi Jayanthi day– as non-violence day.
Peace days should be observed from today to October 2 and, seminars and symposia should be conducted in the schools and colleges to promote peace, he added. He pointed out that Mahatma Gandhi has proved that peace was one and only direction to the world. He stressed the need to involve youth and students in the propagation of peace as 50 percent of Indian population was below the age of 25 years.
The TRS MLA, Mr T Harish Rao opined that the people, whether rich or in any top position, would lead peaceful life only when there was peace. Every one should extend their mite for world peace. He urged the Government to make compulsory the peace pledge taking every day in the schools and colleges.
A power point presentation on importance of peace was also made at the event. Minister for Higher Education, Mr D Sridhar Babu, Minister for Technical Education, Mr Mopidevi Venkataramana, Minister for Minor Irrigation, Mrs Sunitha Laxma Reddy, Minister for Medical Education, Mr P Sudarshan Reddy, Vijayawada Parliament Member, Mr Lagadapati Rajagopal, Anaparthy MLA, Mr Sesha Reddy, TDP MLC, Mrs Nannapaneni Raja Kumari, the teachers MLC, Mr Laxman Rao, Mr B S Rao of Chaitanya Educational Institutions, Mr Rajasekhar of Okridge International School, the Organization Convenor and MLC, Mr Chigurupati Varaprasad Rao also attended the programme.(NSS)
