Bhopal, May 10: Opposing the Madhya Pradesh government’s move to introduce ‘Gita Saar’ in state’s schools’ textbooks, a local organisation comprising of clearics and people from all religion said that the essence of their holy texts too should be taught along with it.
“We want that essence of all religions should be taught along with the Gita’s gist (Saar) in schools from the next academic session,” Harmony Foundation Madhya Pradesh (HFMP) member H S Hardenia told reporters here.
He said the Madhya Pradesh government’s plan to encompass in school curriculum the Gita’s gist only, was against the secular character of the Constitution.
“If the BJP government in Madhya Pradesh will go ahead with the plan to teach only the Gita’s essence, we are going to oppose it tooth and nail,” Hardenia declared.
