PCB appoints Abdul Raquib as cricket team manager

Karachi, October 24: The Pakistan Cricket Board today appointed former first-class player Abdul Raquib as national team manager for the upcoming series against New Zealand.

Raquib replaced the long serving Yawar Saeed, who refused to continue as manager after differences with captain Younus Khan, who had held Yawar responsible for not co-operating and encouraging groupings within the team.

Although the PCB Chairman Ejaz Butt had asked Yawar to continue as manager for the one-day and the Twenty20 series against New Zealand in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, he refused to carry on after serving in the position for around one year.

The board has also named Asad Mustafa as the assistant manager in place of Shafqat Rana – another official against whom Younus had serious reservations.
