Mumbai, July 25: Former Congress MLA from Vidarbha, Nana Patole today joined BJP, while Abhijeet Sawant, the winner of the first ‘Indian Idol’ show, joined its alliance partner Shiv Sena.
Patole had contested the recent Lok Sabha poll from Gondia constituency against NCP’s Praful Patel. He joined BJP in presence of party general secretary Gopinath Munde and state BJP president Nitin Gadkari.
Patole would highlight the issues facing farmers in the state, particularly in Vidarbha, which has witnessed a spate of farmers’ suicides, Munde said.
Sawant joined Sena at a function at party office Sena Bhawan in central Mumbai, in presence of party executive president Uddhav Thackeray.
The 29-year old Sawant said that he was joining the Sena to work for development of youth. Uddhav hoped that the singer-actor would help fulfil aspirations of the young generation.
