Passenger train derails, all safe

Mahabubnagar, August 12: Commuters on board the Guntur bound Secunderabad-Guntur Passenger had a miraculous escape when the train’s engine derailed early on Thursday morning.

According to railway officials, the incident took place near the Jedcharla railway station, even as the train was slowing down to pull into the platform.

The railway officials immediately rushed to the spot to ensure that the passengers were safe and no further damage is done by the derailment.
Five railway officials, including the station master of Jedcharla railway station were suspended in connection with derailment.

The suspended officials include Jedcharla station master, two train drivers and a railway guard.

A high-level team has been constituted to probe into the incident and ensure that such incidents do not recur.

Train services were resumed after rescue team restored the track, after being disrupted for a few hours on the Secunderabad-Kurnool section.
