Pakistani policeman fatally shoots colleague

Islamabad, March 06: A Pakistani policeman shot dead one of his colleagues and injured six at a training centre in Karachi, a media report said Sunday.

Officials told Dawn News that about 10 policemen deputed with the Sindh Reserve Police (SRP) were sitting outside the computer section of the Saeedabad police training centre when they were attacked Saturday night by police constable Mohammad Farooq.

Mohammad Younus was killed and six policemen, including a sub-inspector, were injured, said Akram Sheikh, a police official.

Farooq has been arrested.

One of the injured policemen said Farooq snatched a rifle from one of his colleagues and started firing at them.

Initial reports said Farooq was suffering from serious mental disorders.
