‘Pak wants to consult Kashmiri leaders on resolution’

New York, September 27: Pakistan wants to consult all sections of the Kashmiri leadership while seeking a resolution of the Kashmir issue based on “ground realities”, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has said.

“We want to consult them…We want to move towards a solution based on ground realities,” Qureshi told reporters here after a meeting with Hurriyat chairman Mirwaiz Omar Farooq and PoK prime minister Sardar Yaqub Khan.

He said his talks with the two Kashmiri leaders had focussed on the situation in the region. “I learnt the ground realities in the (Kashmir) valley from Mirwaiz,” Qureshi said.

Qureshi said he had invited the Mirwaiz to visit Pakistan. Other Kashmiri leaders, both in and outside the region, are also being invited, he said.

The Mirwaiz, talking to reporters, claimed that it was wrong to assume that people in the Kashmir valley had given up their quest for freedom. “We are not tired.
