Pak manager opposes Saeed presence in inquiry panel

Karachi, February 11: Abdul Raquib, who accompanied the Pakistan cricket team to New Zealand and Australia as manager, has objected to the presence of his predecessor Yawar Saeed in the six-member inquiry committee to probe the side’s disastrous show Down Under.

According to well-placed sources, Raquib has told the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief operating officer Wasim Bari, who heads the inquiry committee, that Yawar should not be on the committee.

Raquib has been summoned for the committee’s hearing tomorrow and Saturday alongwith coach Intikhab Alam, captain, Muhammad Yousuf and all-rounder Shahid Afridi.

“Raquib has told Bari that it was unfair to have Yawar on the committee as he was openly accused by former captain Younus Khan and some other players of encouraging groupings within the team last year,” one source told PTI.
