Thiruvananthapuram, July 04: Kerala government has signed an agreement with managements of self-financing engineering colleges in the state on fee structure and admission criteria in the institutions run by them.
The agreement was signed late last night after days of talks with representatives of engineering colleges while the talks with private medical colleges were progressing, sources at the Education Minister’s office said.
As per the agreement signed by Higher Education secretary Kuruvila John and self-financing engineering college managements association secretary C A Abdurahman, the fee for meritorius students under the 50 percent government quota was fixed at Rs 35,000 per year, the sources said.
In the 35 percent management quota, the annual fee would be Rs 90,000 or Rs 1.5 lakh refundable deposit with Rs 75,000 annual fee, a decision on which was left to the managements.
In the remaining 15 percent NRI quota, the fee would be Rs 1.
