OU campus reverberates with Telangana slogans

Hyderabad, September 18 The Osmania University campus reverberated with slogans of Jai Telangana even as one section of the student Joint Action Committee observed the Telangana Liberation Day while the others observed the same as Telangana Betrayal Day. The students vowed to take forward the separate Telangana movement in the coming days and not to rest till the separate statehood is achieved.

The OUJAC held the Telangana Atmagaurava Sabha at the Arts College today in which the speakers including Telangana political JAC chairman Prof Kodandaram and others asked the students to take forward the agitation.

“It is high time for us to fight for separate statehood rather than fighting for our share in posts. They (the government) is not going to give us our share as they fear that their domination would come to an end if were given proper representation in government posts,” Kodandaram said.

“The students of the region are demanding their share in the posts to be filled by the AP Public Service Commission (APPSC) and the advocates were also demanding their share in legal posts. They fear that tomorrow we will demand for fair share in the Secretariat also,” he said.

Speaking at the meet, TRS leader E Rajender claimed that the police force from the region would also be joining the fight for their share after September 24 as they were denied promotions. “They were aghast that the SI’s from nonTelangana region of the 2004 batch were promoted while the SI’s from the region of 1995 batch were denied promotions,” Rajender alleged.

Cultural troupes enthralled the students, who danced to the Telangana songs. OUJAC leaders P Kailash, Rajaram Yadav, P Ravi and others participated in the meet. Earlier in the day, the OUJAC students hoisted the national tricolour on the Arts College building. Meanwhile, a section of OUJAC, which is observing the day as Telangana Betrayal Day, hoisted black flags on the Arts

College premises. Mild scuffle broke out between the students and the police when the latter tried to remove the black flags.

The students also burnt the government in effigy protesting the lathicharge on the advocates at the High Court.
