Cyber Crime Police have arrested Shiva Krishna Tripuraneni, 24, of Vanasthalipuram, for harassing a woman from Madhapur, by creating a fake profile on Facebook and posting her mobile number.
In a pressnote here on Friday, a woman from Madhapur lodged a petition on February 4 this year stating that she received phone calls and SMSs from strangers, who tried to be friendly with her. On enquiring with them, they informed her that her mobile number was posted in a fake Facebook profile: ‘Telugu Girls’. She immediately complained to the cyber crime police and requested action against the person, who posted her contact number by creating a fake profile with an intention that she will be harassed by phone calls from strangers.
A case was registered by Cyber Crime PS, Cyberabad u/s 509 IPC, 66(A) IT Act and investigation revealed that the accused: Shiva Krishna Tripuraneni, 24, who works as a Database Programmer in an IT firm in Gachibowli, while going through the portal: www.aspiringminds.in, found its security features to be weak and could access the database containing the details of candidates, who registered with it for an employability test it conducts AMCAT (Aspiring Minds Computer Adaptive Test). From the database, he found the complainant’s mobile number and sent SMSs to her.
When she refused to reply, he felt offended and out of frustration, he created a fake profile on Facebook and posted her number, chatted with persons online impersonating the complainant. The strangers, under the false presumption, called the complainant and made friendly advances. This caused great inconvenience and agony to her. The accused was apprehended today at his residence and sent to judicial custody.
