Omar for devolution of power to grassroots

Gurez (J-K), August 22: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today said his government favours devolution of power to public representatives at grassroots and advocated the need for taking people on board in execution of works according to the requirement of a particular area.

“Involvement of people in the process of planning and development is sine-qua-non (absolute necessity) to meet their development aspirations especially in remote, far-flung areas, Omar said here while addressing public meetings at Tulail and Dawer in Gurez, 140 kms from here in Bandipora district.

“We have received huge annual plan of Rs 5,500 crore besides Rs 1,200 crore from the Centre to carry forward the development of the state on fast track”, he said.

The Chief Minister said for the youth of Gurez, special package for police recruitment will be considered and Union Home Ministry will be approached for the same.
