Old city historical buildings lie in neglect

Today many historical buildings of old city lie in neglect. Some of them have been converted into relics. Dewdi Khursheed Jah was famous for its rich carpets and chandeliers. It was constructed in European style but today it is in precarious condition.

Mahboob Mansion located in Malakpet which was once the residence of Nizam of Hyderabad has been converted into an open market shifted from Osman Gunj. Similarly Darushifa Super Speciality Care Centre which was once buzzing with activity today wore a deserted look. The building of Urdu Shareef School in Shah Gunj once had 30 class rooms but today it has become a relic and the school is run in two rented rooms.

Sadly Governments after coming to power promise to preserve heritage buildings but don’t keep their promises. Hopefully the new chief minister who selected Golconda Fort for Independence Day celebrations will take measures to preserve the historical buildings.
