Washington, February 25: After receiving accolades worldwide and sweeping Oscars, Slumdog Millionaire, the feel good film about a Mumbai tea boy, has now caught the fancy of US president Barack Obama.
Barack ObamaObama wants to watch British Director Danny Boyle’s Slumdog Millionaire, which is made with a modest budget of USD 13 million and has so far grossed around USD 100 million.
The exhilarating rags-to-riches fairy tale set in Mumbai won eight Oscars on Sunday night, including for the best picture and best director, with music composer AR Rahman bagging two Academy Awards for his impressive score in the movie.
“I don’t know if he (Obama) has seen Slumdog Millionaire. I know he wants to,” White House spokesman, Robert Gibbs, said on Monday.
Gibbs said Obama has watched several movies recently. “I think that a lot of the movies that he has seen recently are movies that might also entertain a seven-and-a-10-year-old girl. Not sure that Slumdog Millionaire would be on that list.”
The US president has two daughters, seven-year-old Sasha and 10-year-old Malia.
