Nothing will happen if Jagan arrested

Ridiculing the YSR Congress party leaders for threatening that consequences will be severe if the CBI takes Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy into custody, PCC Chief Botcha Satyanarayana has said that it would be no wrong if Jagan was arrested as he was facing several criminal charges.

Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan on Friday, Botcha asked Jagan to explain to the people about the allegations he was facing, instead of criticizing the Congress government. He said that Jagan Mohan Reddy had taken undue advantage of his father as chief minister and bled the State. Thanking AICC president Sonia Gandhi for taking a decision not to allow Jagan to step into his father’s shoes, the PCC chief said that the conditions in the State would have been horrible and unimaginable if Jagan was allowed to occupy chief minister’s seat.

He said that nothing would happen if the CBI detained Jagan like nothing had happened when the police arrested Suresh Kalmadi, Bangaru Laxman and others. He appealed to the people not to extend support to the corrupt people. He said that everyone in the society was equal and the political leaders have to behave in a respectable manner.

Making it clear that the State government was not acting in a revengeful manner, he said it was not correct for Jagan to say that he was son of Dr YSR and hence looting the State.

Dismissing reports about replacement of Chief Minister as a rumor floated by vested interests, Botcha said there would be no change of Chief Minister till 2014 elections. “I will also continue as the PCC Chief till 2014 if Sonia Gandhi didn’t give another post”, he said.

The PCC chief said that he was still sticking to his statement that the State government’s decision stopping advertisements to Sakshi group was correct. “I am not finding fault with the Court’s opinion. But I won’t change my statement now on this issue”, he said.

Asked about the Supreme Court notices to the ministers, Botcha said that he believed that none of the ministers had any link with the decisions taken behind the screen. “The Ministers will be punished if they had links with the decisions taken behind the screen”, he said.

Finding fault with TDP Chief N Chandrababu Naidu for stating that there was no government in the State, Botcha said that Naidu was the person who laid foundation to corruption in the State. He said that Naidu has no moral right to speak on corruption. (NSS)
