Ahmedabad, August 03: Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray has asserted that there was no political agenda behind his nine-day Gujarat visit from today and his proposed meeting with Chief Minister Narendra Modi.
Talking to mediapersons during a visit to Gandhi Ashram after his arrival here this morning, Mr Thackeray said he has embarked on Gujarat visit to witness the impressive development made by the state. His proposed meeting with Mr Modi this evening has no political undertones.
He said after the shifting of Tata Group’s Nano car project to Sanand in Gujarat from Singur in West Bengal, he heard a lot about the state’s development. Even Mr Ratan Tata praised the state’s approach towards business. ‘Then I decided to have a first-hand look at the state’s progress. I have come here to see state’s development under Mr Modi’s stewardship’.
When asked about his party’s possible alliance either with Shiv Sena or BJP, Mr Thackeray said those who could not think beyond certain limits can think about such politically small things.
Mr Thackeray, who has been accorded state guest status by the Modi government, started his tour with a visit to Mahatma Gandhi’s Sabarmati Ashram.
He is scheduled to meet Mr Modi twice during his tour, when he will visit temples at Somnath and Ambaji, besides the Sardar sarovar project on the Narmada dam, Reliance refinery in Jamnagar, auto parts manufacturing units in Rajkot and the Mundra port and SEZ.
In Ahmedabad, he will visit Kankaria lake, Sabarmati river front and BRTS.
