No curfew relaxation in MP town

Shajapur (MP), January 02: Curfew remained in force for the second day today in nearby Maksi town which witnessed violence after the death of a youth during a cricket match, police said.

There was no relaxation in the curfew. No untoward incident was today reported in the town, 25 kms from here, where an indefinite curfew was clamped last evening after the death of a person and injuries to five others in a clash between two groups, DIG Ujjain range Varun Kapoor said.

The final rites of 22-year-old Sakit Khan, who was killed in firing by some unidentified persons after violence broke out during the match, were performed amid tight security, the officer said.

The district collector Rajendra Sharma said an assistance of Rs one lakh had been sanctioned for the deceased’s family.
