No chance to quit politics: Chiranjeevi

Hyderabad, January 29: Praja Rajyam president K. Chiranjeevi clarified that he would not quit politics and would continue to fight to solve peoples’ problems. Mr Chiranjeevi received a grand welcome when he visited Dharmavaram from Anantapur on Friday.

Addressing people at NTR circle in Dharmavaram, the PR president alleged that government was ignoring the plight of weavers even though several weavers had committed suicide due to poverty. Mr Chiranjeevi said that artisans should be encouraged by following welfare schemes being implemented in neighbouring states like Tamil Nadu. He said that government was planning to remove 25 per cent rebate in Apco when Tamil Nadu was giving 40 per cent rebate on handlooms.

Quoting Mahatma Gandhi that agriculture and handloom were the key to the financial system, Mr Chiranjeevi said that government was ignoring these sectors. He vowed to solve the problems of weavers by raising the issue in the state Assembly.

Speaking to mediapersons in Anantapur, Mr Chiranjeevi warned that the PR would launch a protest in Delhi if the state and Central governments failed to control spiralling prices of essential commodities. He alleged that two TV channels were telecasting untrue stories against him. Mr Chiranjeevi said that there was no differences in the district PR.

He said that the party disciplinary committee was enquiring into party MLAs who took part in programmes organised by Mr Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Mr Chiranjeevi said that the PR would field candidates in Karnataka, based on the situation there. State PR general secretary K. Srikanth Reddy, V. Padma, D.T. Naik, M. Srinivasulu and others were present.
