Nitish, Lalu refuse to comment on Jaswant’s book

New Delhi, August 18: NDA ally JD(U) today refused to be drawn into the controversy surrounding senior BJP leader Jaswant Singh’s controversial remarks on Pakistan’s founder Mohammad Ali Jinnah in his book.

“I have nothing to say. I will say something only after I read it,” Bihar Chief Minister and JD(U) leader Nitish Kumar said when asked by reporters about his views on the book.

In the book ‘Jinnah — India, Partition, Independence’, Singh has held Jawaharlal Nehru responsible for the partition of India and Jinnah has been “demonised” in India.

The BJP has, however, dissociated itself from the book, saying the “painful” part of history cannot be wished away for which the Pakistan founder was responsible.

RJD supremo Lalu Prasad also refused to react on the book, saying “I will read it. What more”.
