The State Government will send a three-member team to Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to extend possible help to workers from Andhra Pradesh who were hit by the Nitaqat policy of KSA.
According to sources, the team would comprise of Minorities Commission Chairman Abed Rasool Khan, Protocol Secretary Ramana Reddy and Hyderabad Regional Passport Officer Srikar Reddy. They are likely to visit the Kingdom in the second week of December. They would study the impact on workers from Andhra Pradesh and will coordinate with the Saudi authorities and Indian Embassy in extending required help to the affected workers.
Nearly 15,000 workers from the State were affected due to the Nitaqat policy. Meanwhile, a committee set up by Minorities Commission has been studying the Nitaqat impact on AP workers. The committee comprising Swaranjit Sen, Iqbal Patni, Khaleel Ahmed and Azam Khan has sought details from the Ministry of External Affairs in this regard. (INN)
