On the eve of lung cancer awareness month Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) has organised a Continuous Medical Education (CME) on Lung Cancer in its premises here on Saturday.
The programme was inaugurated by NIMS Director Dr. Manohar.
Lung cancer is the one of the major killers of males and females globally. Most of the patients come to hospital in the late stages; hence the survival of these patients was only few months. But with the advances in imaging, pathology, surgical, radiation and chemotherapy areas these patients are able to live for few years at present.
NIMS conducted the CME with an objective of educating on the latest treatment possibilities for the lung cancer the faculty, residents and all primary care physicians. In this CME, faculty from Chest, General Medicine, Radiology, Nuclear Medicine, Pathology, Surgical oncology, Radiation Oncology and Medical Oncology briefed the doctors on the latest advances in lung cancer management.
In annual meeting(October 2015) of Indian Society of Medical Oncology, Mumbai, Dr. Stalin Final year resident of Medical Oncology got best paper award for his paper on Lung cancer. He discussed about his research on lung cancer along with NIMS data. (INN)
