Palam Police has filed FIR against the errant driver under sections 304-a and 279 of IPC and she was arrested. However, was later released on bail.
Deepak was playing near his house when the accident happened. His mother Preeti was also present there. “While he was outside, an i-20 car backed up and crushed the boy under its wheels,” said a senior police officer.
Deepak who was the only son to his parents recently celebrated his birthday on June 12. His mother alleged that she kept screaming, at the woman driver asking her to halt her car in order to save her child but the errant driver did not stop and went away.
She also alleged that she ran after the car for a distance but the woman driving the car wearing headphones did not stop.
“I kept knocking on her car window to slow down and stop as my child was under her car… but she didn’t listen. She refused to accept that her car hit my child,” alleged the mother.
She rushed her son to a nearby hospital but they refused to do the treatment and she was forced to take him to DDU hospital where the victim was declared brought dead.
