Kathmandu : Nepali Congress (NC) leader and former deputy prime minister Prakash Man Singh on Saturday said that his party was not in hurry to join the government.
Asserting that Nepali Congress could also carry out works for the people and the country sitting in the opposition, Singh said that the NC’s joining the government was only a propaganda spread by the ruling parties while speaking in a New Year greetings exchange and calendar unveiling programme organised by the NC Constituency-7 committee here.
He also clarified that although the erstwhile NC-led government had wanted to conduct the local body elections, it could not due to lack of political consensus.
“The local bodies’ election should be held as early as possible now,” the Himalayan Times quoted him as saying.
Singh instructed the party cadres to get down to work in implementing the policies and programmes endorsed by the party. (ANI)
